Founded on 1598 as Santa María de las Parras, the town is considered the cradle of viticulture in the Americas and home to the oldest winery on the continent, established in 1597.
Designated a Pueblo Mágico in 2004 for its cultural, gastronomic, and artistic contributions, Parras de la Fuente is home to a rich array of historic landmarks and traditions. Notable sites include the Alameda 20 de Noviembre, Santuatio de Nuestra Señora de Guadalupe, the aqueducts, Estanque de la Luz, Santo Madero Church, and the birthplace of former Mexican president and revolutionary leader Francisco I. Madero, along with several historic plazas and churches that together weave the story of this remarkable town.
Casa Madero is closely involved in preserving and celebrating the traditions of Parras de la Fuente, Coahuila, having played an important role in the life of the town for centuries as a steward of its heritage.
Each August, the town comes alive with the Grape and Wine Fair, the Festivities of San Lorenzo, and the Vendimia celebrations—traditions observed since the founding of Casa Madero. Summer marks the arrival of the harvest, a time when grapes reach their peak ripeness and the season is celebrated through winemaking and community gatherings.
