quinta manuelita children's home

Quinta Manuelita Children´s home is a non-profit, charitable institution that provides shelter, medical care and free education to underprivileged and deprived girls in the Parras, Coahuila region.

It was founded in 1902 by Mr. Evaristo Madero.

Upon his death in 1911, in addition to the facilities, Don Evaristo left one hundred thousand pesos in gold for this effort, with the instruction to maintain this remarkable work with the interests produced.

However, in the mid-1980s, the multiple devaluations wiped out this capital. For this reason, the institution has continued its operations since 1985 thanks to the support of Casa Madero, descendants of Don Evaristo and friends committed to this charity work.

The sisters of the “Sagrado Corazón de Jesús y de los Pobres” , an organization operating more than 60, homes in Latin America, have since 1912 been the administrators of said children´s home.

Quinta Manuelita Children´s Home is duly registered with the tax authorities and offers its donors tax-deductible receipts.

It currently accommodates 23 girls. In addition, a new room area for another 22 girls is about to be completed. 400 students are enrolled in preschool, elementary school and high school. This is also supported by Casa Madero, offering grants to approximately 80% of the students.
